Fashion Revolution 2024: 10 years of commitment to fair fashion

09 April 2024

  • Fashion

Fashion Revolution is the largest fashion activism movement advocating for a fairer and more equitable industry. Its mobilization week in 80 countries, the 'Fashion Revolution Week,' marks 10 years of action following the collapse of the Rana Plaza on 24/04/2013 in Bangladesh.

This year's Fashion Revolution Week raises crucial questions about the environmental and human impacts of the fashion industry, while encouraging conscious and sustainable consumption. Under the theme "Becoming a fashion revolutionary", events in several French cities aim to explore the role of fashion in the social and environmental revolution.

The Fashion Revolution campaign highlights the emergency needing to regulate overproduction and overconsumption. Because with over 65% of textiles sourced from oil and an annual production of 3.3 billion pieces, the fashion industry is at a tipping point.

With pressure from citizens-consumers, NGOs, and unions, policymakers are now attempting to draft legislation to address issues related to human rights and the environment within the sector.
Fashion Revolution (with the Alliance as a partner) is committed to teaching and mobilising a new generation of 'fashion revolutionaries' to slow down production, promote gender equality and steer the industry towards more ethical and sustainable fashion. Over the last five years, the organisation's community has tripled, reflecting a growing awareness of the environmental and social impact of the fashion industry.
The aim is to steer the industry towards more ethical fashion and fashion management in harmony with sustainable development.

Fashion Revolution Week, from 15 to 24 April 2024,
